On 16 September 2026, Meta launched Meta One in India, a paid subscription that gives WhatsApp Business users a verified badge, an AI agent that replies for you, and broadcast credits, starting at ₹639 a month. And from 1 October 2026, Meta charges for customer service replies sent through the WhatsApp Business API once the first 1,000 of the month are used up.
So the question every Indian business owner is now asking is simple: should I just pay Meta directly, or keep using a WhatsApp platform like AiSensy, Interakt, WATI, Gallabox or DoubleTick?
We went through Meta’s announcement, the new India rate card and the public pricing of the most popular Indian platforms, and then worked out the real monthly cost for three typical Indian businesses. Here is what we found.
The quick answer
- Pick Meta One if you are a one person business that mainly wants a verified badge and an AI that answers common questions on the WhatsApp Business app.
- Pick a WhatsApp platform (AiSensy, Interakt, WATI, OGIR and others) if you send more than a few hundred offers a month, have more than one person replying, or need automations like COD confirmation, abandoned cart messages or appointment reminders.
- Use both if you want the badge from Meta and the automation from a platform. With WhatsApp Coexistence, you can even keep using the WhatsApp Business app on the same number.
What is Meta One for business?
Meta One is Meta’s new subscription bundle for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. For individuals, there are small plans such as WhatsApp Plus at ₹79 a month. For businesses, there are four plans. On WhatsApp, they work with the WhatsApp Business app, the free green app most shop owners already use on their phones.
| Meta One plan | India price per month | What you get on WhatsApp |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | ₹639 | Verified badge, impersonation protection, more Meta Business Agent (AI) replies, 1 verified channel. No broadcast credits listed. |
| Advanced | ₹2,099 | Everything in Essential, plus 500 broadcast credits, 6 linked devices, 3 verified channels, 1 support case a month. |
| Expert | ₹6,399 | 1,250 broadcast credits, 8 linked devices, 5 verified channels, 10 protected accounts, 5 support cases a month. |
| Max | ₹20,990 | 5,000 broadcast credits, 10 linked devices, 10 verified channels, 50 protected accounts, unlimited support. |
The star feature is Meta Business Agent, an AI that reads your business details and answers customers day and night. It is useful, but Meta has not published how many AI replies each plan includes, and the agent lives inside Meta’s apps. It cannot look up an order in your Shopify store, update your CRM or hand a hot lead to a salesperson on its own.
Good to know: each subscription covers one business account, and Meta says plans, benefits and pricing can vary by region and account. If you run two WhatsApp numbers, or want the badge on Instagram as well, you pay for each one separately.

What do AiSensy, Interakt, WATI and similar platforms do?
Platforms like AiSensy, Interakt, WATI, Gallabox and DoubleTick connect your number to the WhatsApp Business API (Meta’s official system for businesses that message at scale). You get a web dashboard with a shared team inbox, bulk campaigns, chatbots with buttons and lists, contact tags, and integrations with tools like Shopify, WooCommerce, Razorpay and Google Sheets.
You pay two things: a monthly platform fee, and Meta’s per message charges, which the platform collects from your wallet and passes to Meta (usually with a small margin).
| Platform | Starting price per month (as listed, before GST) | Known for |
|---|---|---|
| AiSensy | Free plan; Basic ₹1,500; Pro ₹3,200 | Easy broadcasts and retargeting; very popular with small Indian brands. Chatbot builder is an add-on. |
| Interakt | Starter about ₹1,000 to ₹1,170 (quarterly or yearly billing); Growth about ₹2,799 | Shopify stores and D2C brands; catalogue and payments. |
| WATI | Around ₹2,200 to ₹2,400 (Growth, billed yearly) | Strong automation builder and API; limits on number of users per plan. |
| Gallabox | ₹2,399 (yearly) or ₹2,999 (quarterly), 3 users | Indian support, AI credits included, GST billing. |
| DoubleTick | Around ₹3,000 | Sales teams that chat from mobile. |
Prices are taken from each company’s public pages and published comparisons in September 2026. They change often, so check the provider’s site before you buy.
WhatsApp API rates in India from 1 October 2026
Every API platform in India pays Meta the same base rates. This is Meta’s India rate card for October 2026, per delivered message:
| Message type | Meta’s rate | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Marketing | ₹0.8631 | Offers, festive sales, new arrivals, abandoned cart nudges. |
| Utility | ₹0.115 | Order updates, delivery alerts, payment and appointment reminders. |
| Authentication | ₹0.115 | OTPs and login codes. |
| Service replies | ₹0.115 | Replies inside the 24-hour chat window, after the first 1,000 free per number each month. |
Add 18% GST to all of these. That makes a marketing message about ₹1.02 and a utility or service message about ₹0.14 before any platform margin. AiSensy, for example, lists marketing messages at ₹1.09.
What changes on 1 October 2026: until 30 September, every reply sent inside the 24-hour window cost nothing. From 1 October, each business number gets 1,000 free service replies a month, and after that every reply costs the utility rate. Utility templates sent inside an open chat are charged too. Incoming messages from customers stay free, and chats that start from a Click to WhatsApp ad still get a free window, which Meta now keeps open for up to 7 days.

Real cost: three Indian businesses, side by side
A. A boutique in Jaipur sending festive offers
The owner wants to send 2,000 Diwali offer messages in a month to past customers.
- Meta One: Advanced includes only 500 credits and Expert includes 1,250, so 2,000 broadcasts would need the Max plan at ₹20,990. Meta has not published a price for buying extra credits.
- API platform: 2,000 × ₹0.8631 = ₹1,726, plus GST = about ₹2,037, plus a platform fee of ₹1,000 to ₹3,200. Total: roughly ₹3,000 to ₹5,300.
If you think of the subscription purely as a broadcast pack, each Meta One broadcast works out to about ₹4.20 on Advanced or Max and ₹5.12 on Expert, against about ₹1.02 on the API. At this volume the platform is clearly cheaper.
The picture is closer for very small senders. If the same boutique sent only 500 offers, the API would cost about ₹509 in messages plus a ₹1,500 platform fee, around ₹2,000 in total, which is almost the same as Meta One Advanced at ₹2,099. Advanced also includes the badge and the AI agent, so for a tiny sender it is a fair deal.
B. A dental clinic in Pune sending reminders
The clinic sends 1,200 appointment reminders and about 3,000 replies to patient questions every month.
- API platform: reminders 1,200 × ₹0.115 = ₹138. Replies: first 1,000 free, then 2,000 × ₹0.115 = ₹230. Total ₹368, or about ₹434 with GST, plus the platform fee.
- Meta One: there is no way to send automatic reminders from a booking calendar. Someone would have to send them by hand from the app.
For anything triggered by another system (bookings, orders, payments), you need the API.
C. A solo property dealer in Noida
He gets 30 to 40 enquiries a day from property portals and Instagram, replies from one phone, and wants to look trustworthy.
- Meta One Essential at ₹639 gives him the verified badge and an AI that answers “What is the price?”, “Is parking included?” and “Where is the site?” at midnight. This is a good fit.
- What he still misses: follow ups after 24 hours, reminders for site visits, a list of which leads are hot, and a way to share leads with a second salesperson. The day he hires help, he will need a platform.

The WhatsApp automations Indian businesses actually use
Here are the automations we see most often in India, and whether Meta One alone can run them:
- COD order confirmation for e-commerce, to cut fake orders and RTO losses. Needs a platform.
- Abandoned cart recovery from Shopify or WooCommerce. Needs a platform.
- Payment and EMI reminders with a Razorpay or UPI link. Needs a platform.
- Appointment and visit reminders for clinics, salons, coaching centres and real estate. Needs a platform.
- Lead capture from Click to WhatsApp ads, with an instant menu and a hand-off to sales. Meta One can reply; routing and follow ups need a platform.
- Festive offers for Diwali, Navratri, Eid, Christmas and end of season sales. Small lists on Meta One; large lists are cheaper on a platform.
- FAQ answers at night about price, timings, location. Meta One does this well.
- Review requests after delivery or a visit. Needs a platform.
- Instagram comment to DM (“comment PRICE and we will send the details”). Needs a platform.
Can you use Meta One and a platform together?
Yes, and for many businesses this is the best answer. Meta’s paid verification works on numbers connected to the WhatsApp Business API and on numbers using Coexistence, where the same number runs on both the WhatsApp Business app and the API.

- Coexistence lets you keep chatting from the WhatsApp Business app on your phone while the platform handles broadcasts, flows and reminders. Your chat history comes along, and replies you type in the phone app show up in the team inbox too.
- Replies typed in the WhatsApp Business app are not charged per message the way API messages are, which helps now that API service replies cost money after the first 1,000.
- One catch: with Coexistence, broadcast lists in the phone app are switched off, so Meta One broadcast credits would go unused. If you use both, buy Essential for the badge and the AI, and send your campaigns from the platform.
- Another catch: the free Official Business Account badge is not available on Coexistence numbers. Paid Meta Verified is the route for them.
So which is better for your business?
- Choose Meta One if you work alone from one phone, send fewer than 500 offers a month, and your biggest pain is answering the same questions at odd hours.
- Choose a platform if you have a team, send thousands of messages, sell online, take bookings, or run ads that bring many chats.
- Choose both if you want the verified badge today, and the automation, CRM and follow ups that turn chats into sales.
Think of it this way: Meta One is a very good answering machine. A WhatsApp platform is your follow up machine. Most Indian businesses lose sales not because nobody answered the first message, but because nobody followed up on the second day.
How OGIR helps
OGIR is a WhatsApp and Instagram automation platform built in India for Indian businesses. It works with or without Meta One:
- Keep your WhatsApp Business app. Connect your existing number with Coexistence, bring your chat history, and keep replying from your phone while OGIR runs the automation.
- One Inbox for WhatsApp and Instagram, shared by your whole team, with assignment, working hours and away messages.
- Flows with buttons, lists, conditions and AI-written messages, built without code, plus a test mode before you go live.
- Broadcasts and Follow-ups that keep working after the 24-hour window closes.
- Contacts with Tags, Lead stage and lead sources, and integrations with Shopify, WooCommerce, Google Sheets, Zapier and Pabbly.
- Instagram comment to DM automations for Reels and posts.
- Meta’s rates, passed on at cost: Marketing ₹0.8631, Utility ₹0.115, Authentication ₹0.115; replies inside the 24-hour window: first 1,000 a month free, then ₹0.115 each; all plus 18% GST. OGIR adds no markup, and the cost is shown clearly in your dashboard.
Frequently asked questions
Is Meta One worth it for a small business in India?
Essential at ₹639 a month is good value if you want the verified badge and AI replies on the WhatsApp Business app. If you mainly want to send offers, an API platform is cheaper per message.
Does Meta One replace the WhatsApp Business API?
No. Meta One adds features to the WhatsApp Business app. It does not give you a team inbox, chatbot flows, integrations with your store or automatic reminders. Those still need the API through a platform.
Are WhatsApp service replies still free after 1 October 2026?
Only the first 1,000 each month per business number. After that, each reply sent through the API costs ₹0.115 plus GST in India. Replies inside the free window that opens after a Click to WhatsApp ad stay free; Meta now keeps it open for up to 7 days.
Can I get the blue tick without Meta One?
Yes. Well known brands on the API can apply for a free Official Business Account through their platform. Everyone else can buy Meta Verified, which is now part of the Meta One business plans.
How much does AiSensy cost in 2026?
AiSensy lists a free plan, Basic at ₹1,500 and Pro at ₹3,200 a month, before GST, with marketing messages listed at ₹1.09 each. Prices may change, so check their site.
